ScarsAndStripes.com is the creation of Lin McNulty, former wife of two Vietnam veterans, and grandmother to a 17 year old grandson who is currently in basic training.
I know first hand what the effects of war look like—not what it feels like, but definitely what it looks like. Flashbacks, nightmares, social isolation, aggression. No one goes to war and comes home the same. No one!
Contact me at lin@scarsandstripes.com to tell me what you think. I want to hear your stories, your poetry. If it fits the context of our site, I will post it.

She said I'm tired of the war.
I want the kind of life I had before.
A wedding dress, or something white
To wear upon my swollen appetite.”
—Leonard Cohen
"Joan of Arc"
“We’re all one thing, Lieutenant. That’s what I’ve come to realize.
Like cells in a body. ‘Cept we can’t see the body. The way fish can’t see the ocean. And
so we envy each other. Hurt each other. Hate each other. How silly is that? A heart cell
hating a lung cell.” —Cassie from THE THREE
